We did it! Our goal in this primary was to receive a majority of the votes cast, so that we would not have to compete in November’s General Election, and I could focus on serving you as Mayor. Today I can say with confidence that we have accomplished our goal!It looked like we were successful with early returns on election night, but this process takes time. I appreciate how our state makes it easy to vote, either by mail, early in-person, or on election day, and I appreciate the integrity with which Los Angeles County counts those votes. But that means it takes time to definitively determine the outcome. I wanted to be respectful of the process and wait until the overwhelming majority of votes had been counted before declaring victory. There are only about 12,000 votes remaining to be counted in all of LA County, so the results are clear.
