Announcing Assistance for Pomona Businesses

I have worked with members of the City Council and the COVID-19 Action Committee to identify $450,000 in funds for small business relief. These funds are in addition to Federal and State funds that may be available and will support small businesses in Pomona that are struggling during the COVID-19 crisis.

A recent survey conducted by the COVID-19 Action Committee showed that nearly 2 out of 3 Pomona businesses have experienced a decline in revenue of more than 50% during the crisis. Additionally, 37% of businesses surveyed stated that their business was closed, while 43% have reduced their business hours.  These statistics reinforce what we already knew – that our local businesses are struggling, and it is also affecting our community members who work for them.  But the data collected in this survey will also be useful in understanding how to direct these funds to have the greatest positive impact.

The City is committed to helping our small businesses and ensuring that our community is able to make it through this crisis. Further details on the fund, including the timing and criteria for receiving aid, will be made available in the coming days.
